"In a post-apocalyptic world, these robots assisted those in need during the war. They helped save thousands of lives, and now they lay in various landfills as a memory of the conflict."
I worked on this project as part of the Adobe Substance 3D - Robot Challenge organized by The Rookies. Following the pipeline, I created the 2d design in Photoshop. It is a military medical robot capable of changing height thanks to the elastic rubber bands connecting the body parts. I have decided to design it as an old and destroyed object, so the arms have fallen down. In addition, it has four sensors (two in the upper part and two in the lower part) to navigate the environment.
I decided to keep the project simple and worked only with Photoshop, Maya and Substance Painter. Being this the first time I used Substance Painter to render the final image. Also, in Substance Painter, I created most of the details as bullet marks or screws. It was my first time using Alphas in this way so it was definitely a learning experience. During the texturing process, I made some design changes with the goal of it being more realistic.
It has been a really quick and small project but I've loved following the pipeline. In addition, I think having worked on this will help me break down bigger projects into smaller steps.
